Kaoshikii is a full-body yoga practice that originated in Japan. With the goal of training endurance and strength, overcoming all challenges and difficulties is the spirit that Kaoshikii holds. Kaoshikii carries the meaning of ‘Dance for mental expansion’, encouraging people to practice prolonging life, improve body flexibility and comprehensively develop physical and mental health.
Kaoshikii is arguably one of the most comprehensive dances ever created. It is a rhythmic yoga dance that stretches the spine in all directions while stimulating the heart and circulatory system. Foot movements through pressing the tip of the toe on one side behind the heel of the other, combined with movement of the upper body, help improve coordination and increase brain acuity. The two arms rhythmically lean to the sides, bend forward and lean back, helping to open large meridians in the body and increasing the ability to circulate energy flows. While the forward bends give a soothing feeling, the back bend is invigorating and energizing.
